Hello IPA members! The times we are in right now call for more security and user training when it comes to daily use on the computer systems. Especially your billing department who daily receive payments from insurance companies and secure messages. Below is a an email that we received that came through our system and passed our spam filtering. This email looks normal and really close the other health plan secure message systems. By clicking the “Continue to Message” link (which I have disabled), it asks me to download the secure message in word format which is infected with Malware. It is important to always check where the email is coming from and going to. Just taking a few more seconds to scan an email can save a system from being infected with malware or a Ransomware virus. Training staff is important and could save your practice. Security starts with the end user (your staff) Take the time to make sure they understand the importance of security.
